Bruckner started her acting career at the age of was eleven years old. She was in commercials and a few television pilots. Her first daytime soap, The Bold and the Beautiful aired in 1999. Bruckner was 15 when she was cast in her first major role as a teenager girl for the film Blue Car (2002). In the movie, Bruckner played a young high-school student having an illicit affair and David Strathairn. Film reviewer Roger Ebert wrote that Bruckner manages the difficult film with total conviction. Bruckner received nominations for the Independent Spirit Award for "Best female lead" for this role. Her family consisted of three siblings, two sisters and a brother. Her first language was Hungarian which she frequently practiced it to remain proficient. Bruckner lived in California, Hollywood with an Hungarian mother and Russian father. The couple been divorced. Her paternal grandfather was German and is now deceased. Her parents met in Hungary and relocated from Hungary to U.S. in 1984 through a refugee camp in Italy. She is the younger sister of two brothers, and also have two sisters.
